Fall is here and that means apple picking time.  We love going to the local apple orchards. It’s certainly a fun way to spend an afternoon and you get to take delicious fresh apples home.

They are great for snacking on and for baking.  Pies, crisps, crumbles, so many delicious cooked apple desserts!! Of course this  Slow Cooker Apple Pear Crisp is always a winner.

First it’s made in the slow cooker so the apples and pears cook perfectly and the topping crisps up just right.

This is perfect comfort food and great for family gatherings, potlucks or any time you need a quick dessert.

We love it with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  We love the mix of apples and pears in the crisp. It really gives it a nice flavor. The pears really make it super yummy!

Add the cinnamon and sugar together. Sprinkle a small amount to cover the bottom of the slow cooker.

Next, add the sliced apples and pears. Use the remaining cinnamon sugar mix to cover the apples and pears.

In a bowl, combine together flour, brown sugar, and oats.  Mix thoroughly.

Once completely mixed, add the stick of butter.  Using a fork or a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the mixture.  It should be coarse crumbles.

  1. Patrik Pierson says:

What size slow cooker is best to use for this recipe?

    1. We used a regular 6 quart slow cooker. You can see it in one of the pictures with the paper towels and the cover.

  2. Can you make this on advance? Or is it best served right after it is done

    1. You can make it in advance but it is best served warm in my opinion. If we have leftovers we warm in the oven at 300 degrees for 15 minutes or so. but it is best when just made.
