Pasta in Tomato Sauce with Peas is a quick and easy recipe that is perfect for a Sunday family meal or potluck gathering. This will soon become one of your favorite meals!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb campanelle pasta or pasta or your choice
  • ¼ cup basil, shredded small
  • 1 ½ pints cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12/ -3/4 cup frozen peas ( I use tender tiny peas but you can use any kind you like)
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4-12 cup pasta water more may be needed

Instructions

  • Start water for pasta. when it starts to boil add pasta. When you drain pasta make sure to save at least 1/4 -12 cup pasta water.
    In a medium skillet heat about ¼ cup of olive oil  and add garlic making sure not to burn it.
    Stir over medium heat  for 2 minutes add tomatoes.
    Stir for 2 minutes , cover and lower heat a little bit .Check after a few minutes.  The tomatoes should  burst open at this point 
    Add basil and salt and pepper
    Lower heat, add peas and 1/4 cup pasta water. Cover for at  5 minute. At this point the peas should be done.
    Drain pasta, add sauce to pasta and add your favorite cheese and serve!!
