Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¼ cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 cups flour divided
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Neon green food coloring
  • ½ cup crushed cherry jolly ranchers

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  • Next add in your eggs, vanilla, almond and green food coloring and mix until combined.
  • Next gradually add in 3 ½ cups of flour.
  • Once the dough is combined wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least an hour, up to overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Roll out the dough to about a ¼ inch thick, using the leftover flour to keep the dough from sticking.
  • Use a heart cookie cutter and cut out hearts.
  • Using a smaller heart cutter cut out a small heart in the big heart.
  • Place the cookies onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Using a little spoon fill the small hearts up with the crushed red candy.
  • Bake at 350 for 12 minutes or until the edges are just golden.
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely on the pan before removing or else the red candy might not have cooled and hardened.
  • Serve!
