Equipment

  • Food processor
  • 9x13 baking dish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ teaspoon cinnamon–divided
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 cups applesauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a food processor, place the butter, brown sugar, flour and salt and pulse until it starts to form dough. Add in the ½ tsp of the cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and oats and pulse to combine.
  • Divide the dough in half and press one half into the bottom of a greased 9” x 13” pan to form an even layer as the base.
  • In a large measuring cup, stir together the applesauce and the remaining cinnamon (1 tsp). Spread in an even layer over the top of the base.
  • In a small bowl combine the remaining crust and mix in the chopped pecans. Sprinkle the remaining crust over the top of the applesauce in an even layer.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top crust is golden brown.
  • Remove and let cool completely before slicing into bars.
