In a medium bowl or large measuring pitcher, add the boiling water. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
Stir until fully dissolved, then let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Once cooled, stir in the beer, butterscotch schnapps, and vanilla vodka until well combined.
Place shot glasses on a baking sheet that will fit in your refrigerator.
Pour the gold decorating sugar into a shallow dish and set aside.
Cut marshmallows in half. Rub the cut side of a marshmallow around the rim of each shot glass to make it sticky. Replace marshmallows as needed.
Dip the rims into the gold decorating sugar to coat, then place glasses back on the baking sheet.
Carefully ladle the gelatin mixture into each shot glass.
Refrigerate until fully set, at least 2 hours or until ready to serve.
Just before serving, top each shot with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel topping.
