Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cloves garlic peeled and minced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 15 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 20-30 seconds, until fragrant.
  • Add the tomato paste and cook with the garlic in the oil for 1 minute, stirring often.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes and whisk well to combine with the tomato paste.
  • Add the sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper; stir well. Cover and bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and cool to room temperature before making pizza or serve warm as a dipping sauce.
