Equipment

  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Popsicle sticks
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • Microwaveable bowl and cup

Ingredients

  • 13.75 ounces yellow cake mix - including ingredients listed on the box
  • 16 ounces vanilla frosting
  • 22 ounces white baking chips
  • Orange decorating icing
  • Black decorating icing
  • Pretzel sticks - broken into 1” pieces
  • Mini Oreos

Instructions

  • Prepare and bake the cake according to the instructions on the box.
  • Bake time may vary. Let the cake cool completely.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the frosting until the mixture is fully combined, using your hands if needed.
  • Scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of the mixture into your hands and roll it into a ball. Set it aside. This will be the bottom half of the snowman.
  • Scoop 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a second ball for the top half of the snowman.
  • Repeat with the remaining mixture—you should have 8 to 10 larger balls and 8 to 10 smaller balls.
  • Melt a tablespoon of chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until melted.
  • Slide the smaller ball onto one of the popsicle sticks.
  • Then, dip the larger ball into the melted chocolate before sliding it onto the popsicle stick underneath the smaller ball. Gently press the snowman onto the baking sheet so it can stand on its own.
  • Place in the freezer for 30 minutes to harden.
  • Heat the remaining chocolate in a microwave-safe cup. Using a cup makes it easier to dip the entire snowman.
  • Dip each snowman into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is thoroughly coated.
  • Transfer to the baking sheet and repeat with the remaining snowmen.
  • Before the chocolate hardens, press two pretzel sticks into the sides of each snowman to create arms.
  • Let the snowmen sit for 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
  • Using the black decorating icing, draw two small dots for the eyes and a curved line of small dots for the mouth.
  • Using the orange decorating icing, draw a line between the eyes and mouth to create the nose.
  • On the bottom half of the snowman, use the black decorating icing to draw three dots for buttons.
  • Pipe some black icing onto a mini Oreo and stick it on the head of the snowman to create a hat.
  • Repeat with the remaining snowmen and enjoy!
