Thaw frozen banana bread by placing it on the counter overnight or heating it up in the oven or microwave.

💭 Tips

Here are a few tips to help you make the best blueberry banana bread:

  • Ripe bananas are key to making this recipe. If your bananas are not ripe enough, they will not mash well and the flavor of the banana will be less pronounced.
  • I like to use fresh or frozen blueberries in this recipe, but you can also use dried blueberries. If using dried blueberries, soak them in hot water for 5 minutes before adding them to the batter.
  • Tossing the blueberries in the flour mixture prevents them from sinking in your bread, so don’t skip this important step.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in tough bread.
  • The glaze is optional, but I think it really takes this recipe over the top. If you don’t want to make the glaze, you can dust the top of the bread with powdered sugar before serving.
  • This banana bread is best enjoyed the day it is made, but it will still be delicious the next day.
  • If you want to dress up this bread, try topping it with a streusel topping or some chopped nuts.
  • I like to use extra ripe bananas because they add extra sweetness and make the best banana bread if you ask me.
  • You can bake this in a muffin pan instead of a bread pan, but you will need to adjust the baking time some.
  • If you have bananas that are not ripe yet, you can ripen them quickly by placing them in a brown paper bag on the kitchen counter overnight to help them ripen quickly.
