🔪 How to Make Snowman Cake Pops
These little snowmen might seem complicated at first glance, but they’re actually very easy to make. It’s mostly a matter of stacking cake balls and decorating them. It’s so easy!
Step 1: Bake the Cake
Prepare and bake the cake according to the package directions and let it cool completely.
Step 2: Crumble and Mix
Crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl and stir in the frosting until the mixture is fully combined.
Step 3: Roll
Scoop out 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cake mix, roll it into a ball with our hands, and set aside. Then, scoop out 1 tablespoon of the cake mix, roll it into a ball, and set aside. Repeat until all the cake mix is used. You should have 8 to 10 of the larger balls and the smaller balls.
Step 4: Melt the Chocolate
Melt 1 tablespoon of chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until melted.
Step 5: Stack the Cake Balls
Slide one of the smaller balls onto a popsicle stick. Then, dip the larger ball into the melted chocolate and slide it onto the cake pop underneath the smaller ball. Place the stacked cake balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all the cake balls have been used.
Step 6: Chill
Place the stacked cake balls in the freezer and chill them for 30 minutes to set the chocolate.
Step 7: Melt and Dip
Melt the remaining chocolate in a microwaveable bowl or cup. Then, dip the entire snowman into the melted chocolate. Then, place it on a baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining cake ball stacks.
Step 8: Add Pretzel Sticks
Press two pretzel sticks into each snowman before the chocolate hardens to create arms. Then, let them sit for about 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
Step 9: Make the Face
Use black decorating icing to draw 2 small dots on the top ball for the eyes and a curved line of dots for the mouth. Use orange decorating icing to draw a line between the eyes and the mouth to make the nose.
Step 10: Make the Buttons
Draw 3 black dots with the black icing to make the buttons on the body of the snowman.
Step 11: make the Hats
Pipe some black icing onto a mini Oreo and press it gently onto the head of the snowman. Repeat until all the snowmen are done.

💭 Tips
- Be sure to work quickly when dipping the pops and adding the pretzels. You don’t want the chocolate to get too hard before you try to press the pretzels into the cake pops.
- Using clean hands is the easiest way to form uniform cake balls.
- A glass liquid measuring cup or a large, shallow bowl are the best things to use for dipping your snowmen.
⁉️ FAQ
Cake pops are bite-sized treats made by mixing cake crumbs with frosting. They’re formed into balls and then coated with chocolate and attached to popsicle or lollipop sticks.
There are a few reasons cake pops can fall apart. First, the cake must be fully cooled before adding the frosting. Second, not adding enough frosting will make a mixture that won’t hold together. Finally, moving the popsicle stick too much after attaching the cake ball can cause it to loosen and fall off.
The best way to ensure your cake pop stays in place is to dip the stick in melted chocolate. It will harden inside the pops and sort of “glue” the cake ball to the popsicle stick.
