🥫 Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap the biscuits in plastic wrap and freeze them for up 2 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag with as much air removed as possible.

Bring to room temperature and microwave for about 20 seconds. Serve warm.

Serve With

These copycat Cheddar Bay Biscuits are perfect with almost any main course. Of course, you can keep the copycat theme going with our Red Lobster shrimp scampi.

They would also be delicious with our hearty slow cooker beef mushroom soup or French onion chicken.

💭 Tips

  • Shred your own cheese if possible. Pre-shredded cheese has added ingredients to prevent clumping that make it unsuitable for even melting.
  • Mix your wet and dry ingredients until just combined. Overmixing can make your biscuits tough.
  • If you don’t have buttermilk, add one tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to a liquid measuring cup and then fill to the 1 cup line with milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes, and you have buttermilk.

⁉️ FAQ

Do you have questions about this recipe? Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Can I leave out the cayenne?

Yes, you can. Adding cayenne to the biscuits gives them a nice little pop, but it’s not required.

Why were my biscuits dry?

Dry biscuits are usually the result of using too much flour. Rather than scooping your flour directly out with the measuring cup, loosely spoon it into the cup and then level it off with a knife. This prevents compacting.

What can I serve with Cheddar Bay biscuits?

You can serve these biscuits with almost anything. Any hearty chicken, beef, or pork recipe works, and of course, seafood is always a great pairing.
