Honey Butter Biscuits are a deliciously sweet variation of classic buttermilk biscuits. Tender homemade buttermilk biscuits are either topped with honey butter glaze or served with a slathering of whipped honey butter on the inside.
Biscuits are a time-honored breakfast staple in our home. We love them with bacon and eggs, gravy, sausage, and just about anything else. One variation we like to make fairly regularly is buttermilk biscuits with sweet honey butter. Some days, we serve it warm as a glaze. On other days, we chill it and whip it. Either way, it’s a delicious combo!

🔪 How to Make Honey Butter Biscuits
Making these honey butter biscuits couldn’t be easier. It’s a basic buttermilk biscuit recipe, and the honey butter is simply mixing 2 ingredients!
Step 1: Prep
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Step 2: Combine the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
Step 3: Add the Cream Cheese and Butter
Cut the cold cream cheese and butter into the flour mixture with a fork or pastry cutter until it resembles coarse sand with pea-sized chunks of butter and cream cheese.
Step 4: Add the Buttermilk
Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined. The dough will be crumbly.
Step 5: Knead
Turn the dough out onto a clean counter and knead until it forms a ball.
Step 6: Roll and Cut
Roll the dough out to 3/4-inch thickness and cut out 8 biscuits with a 2-inch round biscuit cutter.
Step 7: Bake
Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake them for 11 to 12 minutes until golden brown around the edges.
Step 8: Make the Honey Butter
While the biscuits are baking, combine the honey and butter in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring often until the butter is melted and the honey is incorporated.
Step 9: Serve

- If you don’t have buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to a liquid measuring cup, then add enough milk to hit the 1-cup line. Set aside for about 5 minutes, and you have buttermilk!
- Your biscuit dough will look dry and crumbly. That’s okay! Kneading it will smooth it out into a dough.

- ¾ up butter 1 ½ sticks
- ¼ cup honey
