This dish starts with just a few staples you might already have on hand. Russet or Yukon gold potatoes bring the perfect texture, while cheddar cheese adds a sharp, gooey finish. The pork chops sear up beautifully before baking, adding flavor and sealing in moisture. A splash of milk or cream and a bit of butter bring it all together into a creamy, crave-worthy casserole..

Variations

  • Add veggies: Layer in thinly sliced carrots or spinach for extra nutrition.
  • Use a different cheese: Try mozzarella or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
  • Swap the meat: Chicken thighs or smoked sausage work great here too.
  • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne or sliced jalapeños to the potatoes.
