We love green beans as a vegetable side dish, however sometimes if we have picky eaters coming over then we need to add a little extra flare to them so that they will get eaten. And, this cheesy recipe is our go-to way to make them fly off the table. You will love it also.

🔪 How to Make Cheesy Baked Green Beans

Clean and trim the ends from the green beans and place them in the prepared baking dish.

In a small bowl or measuring cup combine the heavy green, lemon zest, garlic, add thyme, and salt and pepper if desired.

Pour the cream sauce over the top of the green beans and then top them with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top, and then place it under the broil for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is browned slightly.

Storage – Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Or, you can also cover your baking dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep them fresh in the fridge.

Reheating – The best way to reheat these green beans is in the oven at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. You can also reheat single servings in the microwave for about one minute or until warm all the way through.

  • To save time, you can purchase pretrimmed and washed green beans from the produce department if you prefer.
  • We have only made this recipe with fresh green beans, it should work with frozen, however you will need to thaw them and dry them first.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Clean and trim the ends of the green beans. Place them in the pan.
  • In a measuring cup or bowl, place the heavy cream and grate the garlic cloves and lemon zest into the cream.
  • Add the thyme leaves and whisk to combine.
  • Pour the cream mix over the top of the green beans and stir to coat them.
  • Cover the top of the green beans with the mozzarella cheese and place in the oven to bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese melts and starts to turn golden.
  • Add the parmesan cheese and return to the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes, just until the cheese melts and browns slightly. Remove and serve while hot.
