Chocolate pie is a classic dessert for family dinners and holiday gatherings. It’s a time-honored treat that everyone always flocks to first, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s delicious! We took the classic flavor of chocolate pie and turned it into a dip that you can serve up for a new twist on dessert, at parties and potlucks, or at your next holiday get-together.

Chocolate Pie Dip

Over the years, we’ve made our fair share of chocolate pie. It’s simple and delicious, so it’s always been a staple treat in our recipe arsenal. Of course, after a while, favorite recipes become stale recipes, and you start to wonder what you can do to change things up. In our case, we decided to turn chocolate pie into a dip!

This chocolate pie dip features all the flavors we love in our chocolate pie. You’ll find chocolate pudding, of course, along with graham crakers and whipped topping. We also added some mini chocolate chips for good measure! What you end up with is a delicious dessert dip that’s perfect for dipping with graham crackers, Nilla wafers, cookies, and even pretzels for a sweet and salty combo.

Chocolate Pie Dip Ingredients

It takes less than a handful of ingredients to make this delicious dip. You’ll likely have some – if not all – of them in your kitchen right now. Anything you don’t have is easily found at your local grocery store.

  • Instant chocolate pudding
  • Milk
  • Whipped topping
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Graham cracker crumbs

Chocolate Pie Dip Instructions

It doesn’t get much easier than this recipe. About 10 minutes of prep and an hour of chilling is all it takes to make it!

Step 1: Make the Pudding

Whisk the chocolate pudding mix and milk together until smooth. Then, let the pudding rest until thickened.

Step 2: Add a Layer of Pudding

Spoon half of the chocolate pudding into the bottom of a serving bowl.

Step 3: Add the Whipped Topping

Stir whipped topping into the remaining pudding thoroughly. Then, spoon the mixture over the top of the pudding in the serving bowl.

Step 4: Chill

Place the bowl in the refrigerator and chill for at least an hour.

Step 5: Top and Serve

When ready to serve, spread a layer of whipped topping over the dip and sprinkle it with graham cracker crumbs and mini chocolate chips.

Hint: The longer you chill this dip the better. It’s best served nice and cold and thoroughly set.

Give the Pudding Time to Set: It’s important to let your pudding thicken before mixing and layering it.

Plenty of Chill Time: The minimum time to chill this dip is an hour, but longer is better. This is so good when it’s nice and cold and thoroughly set.

Ingredients

  • 1 3.9 ounce package instant chocolate pudding
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup whipped topping plus more for topping
  • 1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon graham cracker crumbs
  • Graham crackers or cookies for dipping

Instructions

  • Whisk together the chocolate pudding and milk until smooth and well combined. Allow the pudding to rest until thickened.
  • Spoon half the pudding into the bottom of the serving bowl.
  • Add the whipped topping to the remaining pudding and stir to mix. Spoon the remaining pudding mixture over the top of the pudding in the serving bowl.
  • Place the bowl in the refrigerator to chill for at least one hour.
