The best chocolate flavor always comes from adding coffee if you ask us. And since you’re here, you are! We make both the brownies and the frosting with strong coffee to really kick up the chocolate flavor.

🔪 How to Make Mocha Brownies
These brownies are ready in just a few simple steps. You’ll be in and out of the kitchen in no time.
Step 1: Prep
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, line an 8-inch pan with parchment paper and set it aside.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
Melt the butter and dark chocolate chips together in a small saucepan on medium heat.
Step 3: Make the Batter
Then, add the brown sugar and sugar and whisk to combine. Add eggs, one at a time, and whisk until incorporated. Then, add the coffee. Add the flour and salt and whisk until combined.
Step 4: Bake
Add the batter to the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove the brownies and let them come to room temperature.
Step 5: Make the Frosting
Melt the butter and dark chocolate chips in a small saucepan over medium heat. Transfer the chocolate to a medium bowl and add the coffee, 1 tablespoon of milk, powdered sugar, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix until incorporated, adding additional milk if needed to reach a creamy consistency.
Step 6: Frost
Gently lift the brownies out of the pan by the parchment paper and place them on a flat surface. Then, frost and cut into squares. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- Brownie Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs room temperature
- 2 tablespoons strong coffee
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- Frosting Ingredients:
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons strong coffee
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 8” pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add butter and dark chocolate chips to a small saucepan on medium heat. Cook until melted, stirring as needed.
- Pour brown sugar and granulated sugar into melted chocolate. Whisk to combine.
- Add eggs, one at a time, to the chocolate mixture. Whisking after each addition until incorporated.
- Add coffee, flour and salt to the mixture. Whisk until combined.
- Transfer the batter to prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 25-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool to room temperature.
- To prepare the frosting: Add dark chocolate chips and butter to a small saucepan on medium heat. Cook until melted, stirring as needed.
- Pour the melted dark chocolate mixture into a medium mixing bowl.
- Add coffee, 1 tablespoon of milk, powdered sugar and a pinch of sea salt. Use a hand-mixer to mix until incorporated. Mix in an additional 1-2 tablespoons of milk to reach desired consistency.
- Once brownies have cooled completely, gently lift the brownies out of the pan by the parchment paper and place on a flat surface.
- Spread frosting into an even layer over the brownies. Slice and enjoy!
