Slow cooking is one of our favorite ways to cook because it’s just so darn easy. We combined those two to create this delicious slow cooker version of Mississippi chicken.
We’ve been making this for a few years now, ever since we got all the ingredients we needed for Mississippi pot roast except the pot roast. We’re not sure how we managed to do that, but we’re glad we did. This chicken version is absolutely amazing!

Making this slow cooker Mississippi chicken is just about as easy as it gets. You’ll just put everything in the slow cooker and let it do its job. That’s it! The hardest part about this recipe is waiting for it to finish cooking!
Step 1: Prep
Spray a large slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Layer the Ingredients
Place the onion on the bottom of the slow cooker. Then, add the chicken and top it with the Au Jus and ranch mixes. Add the pepperoncini around the chicken and top with slices of butter. Finally, pour the pepperoncini juice over everything.
Step 3: Cook
Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours until the chicken is fork tender.
Step 4: Shred
Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 medium onion peeled and chopped
- 3 chicken breasts
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
- 8 pepperoncini peppers
- ½ cup butter sliced
- ¾ cup pepperoncini peppers juice
Instructions
- Spray a large crockpot with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the chopped onion into the bottom of the crockpot.
- Lay the chicken breasts over top of the onions.
- Sprinkle the au jus gravy mix and ranch mix over the chicken.
- Place the pepperoncini peppers around the chicken and the slices of butter on top of the chicken.
- Pour the pepperoncini pepper juice over everything in the crockpot.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the chicken is cooked through and fork tender.
- Shred the chicken and serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
