Nuts and sour cream in Ambrosia Salad?

I know some people don’t care for nuts so you can certainly leave them out. We think they add a nice crunch. The sour cream goes really well in offsetting the sweetness of the Cool Whip. You can leave it out if you like.

Why is it called ambrosia salad?

“Ambrosia” is actually a word that was termed by the Roman Gods and Greeks back in the day. It means food of the Greek gods and was typically a dessert that was reserved for special occasions or even as a special holiday dish.

Can you make this salad the day ahead?

You sure can! I would suggest you do as a matter of fact. It’s best to let this salad sit for at least a few of hours before serving. But you could make it in the morning or even the day before you plan on serving it.

How long will the leftovers of this salad last?

As long as you’re storing it properly in the fridge, the leftovers should be good for up to 3 days. After that, you might notice that it gets a little liquid from the fruit and doesn’t appear to be quite as appealing. (but I wouldn’t worry – you’ll eat it up long before that anyway!)

Since you only need 8 simple ingredients to make this dessert salad, there’s no reason why it can’t be done! Give it a try. You’re going to love the taste and flavor just like we do!
